For P.P.O.W’s third consecutive year at The Armory Show, the gallery will present works by Ann Agee, Elizabeth Glaessner, Katharine Kuharic, Jessica Rohrer, Carolee Schneemann, Timothy Wehrle, Martha Wilson and David Wojnarowicz. These works will be alongside a life size painted storefront by Martin Wong entitled Iglesia Pentecostal from 1986. Among other pieces on view, will be works that serve as a preview to upcoming exhibitions, including a wall painting and ceramic tableau by Ann Agee, an installation of biographical paintings by Jessica Rohrer and paintings by Iowa artist Timothy Wehrle that evoke illuminated manuscripts, Persian miniatures, comic books, sacred mandalas, crazy quilts and psychedelic album covers. The gallery will be premiering two works by Martha Wilson who currently is having a major exhibition, Performing Franklin Furnace at Pratt Manhattan Gallery, NYU Fales and Participant Inc. that present her pioneering feminist work. Elizabeth Glaessner, expanding on her first show will be showing a new painting series and Katharine Kuharic will be presenting a new epic oil painting entitled The Nipple I Never Knew, depicting her future gravesite complete with meticulously painted birds, past pets and of course, skeletons. Carolee Schneemann will be represented by Dead Engineer –Kosovo a print from 1999. Schneemann is currently the subject of a six month program at the Artist’s Institute, a one person exhibit at Merchant House in Amsterdam and will have a retrospective at Museum der Moderne Salzburg in the Fall of 2015.
