March 7-11th, 2012
Park Avenue Armory at 67th Street

P•P•O•W will exhibit work by David Wojnarowicz and Hunter Reynolds. The dialogue between the works of Wojnarowicz, who died of AIDS and Reynolds, an artist who has been living with AIDS, is enriched between shared histories.
Wojnarowicz' Rimbaud in New York (1978/9) consists of 44 photographs of a male figure wearing a mask of Arthur Rimbaud, at locations in NYC right before the AIDS epidemic.
Reynolds' series Survival Aids (1989-1993) are large photo weavings that contain every newspaper article related to HIV/AIDS from The NY Times from 1989-1993 creating an archived tapestry.
A catalog with an essay by John Chaich will accompany this installation.
